Living with PAH

As a person living with PAH, you will continue to learn all you can about it. This includes how to manage your condition and how to find support.

How to stay organized
There’s a lot to think about when managing PAH. It can help to:
– Keep information related to PAH in one place. This can include doctor visits and your pharmacy information.
– Make a note of the things you’ve tried and track the results.

How to find support
A great place to start is to build a support team that includes a PAH specialist. You may also include any family and friends who can help you. Having more people to support you can be a big help, so don’t be afraid to reach out.

There’s no judgment. We are here for one another. And if you have any doubts, if you have any questions, speak up. Don’t let anyone tell you how to feel and what’s going on with your body. If you’re doing something and you feel as though it’s not working, speak up.

Building a life around PAH

PAH can be life changing. It is important to have a close relationship with a PAH expert as they may recommend certain healthy lifestyle changes, based on your PAH.

– Ask your doctor about your exercise plan before you start a new routine.
– Plan to exercise when you have the most energy.
– Always exercise with a partner and never alone.
– Include a warm-up and cool-down into your exercise routine.
– Don’t feel discouraged if you need a longer warm-up than someone who doesn’t have PAH.
– Start small and work up. If you feel tired, you have found the limit of what you can do today.

– Eating healthy can also be delicious. Focus on adding flavor with salt-free seasonings, herbs and spices.
– Consider talking to a doctor who can help create a nutrition plan tailored to your PAH.
